May Mothers Day Action

                                                             Multi-Cultural-Presentations In May

IMN declares May as ‘Mothers Month’ and will support a global initiative highlighting the activities of mother's groups  throughout the month of May annually.

Activities can and will take place on different dates, simultaneously and separately throughout the month May.

Claiming public space for Mothers and Families across the world prioritizes children and highlights the acts of mothers, influences corporate and public policy, and creates a global citizenship that values matriarchal influences and affects positive change with the intention of benefiting all.

The entire month of May will serve as an open collective forum for gatherings; social, political, economic, artistic and academic, highlighting some of the key issues facing women, mothers and families free of race and socio-economic differences.

We are all for one and one for all, welcoming festivals, concerts, poetry bashes, walkathons, sit-ins, peaceful activism, literary and theatrical presentations, economic summits, athletic demonstrations, artistic celebrations and multi-cultural group gatherings of all kinds.

Send us links for May gatherings for posting here: joy@mamapalooza.com or info@internationalmothersnetwork.org.

blue milk is supporting Australia's push for a paid maternity leave scheme for Internationl Womens' Day.

This year the National Association of Mothers’ Centers (NAMC) will join with other members of the global Mothers Center International Network for Empowerment (MINE) in promoting and sponsoring “Mile for Mothers” events in the USA.  We plan to have one venue here on Long Island (NY) and to also encourage our centers throughout the country to organize events in their own communities.  Our event will be on Saturday, May 9th 2009 a 5k Run/Walk/Stroller-Walk Event in conjunction with one of our partner organizations “The Sounds of Silence Foundation” and the Post Partum Resource Center of New York.   We collaborate with the Post Partum Resource Center to do “Circle of Caring” discussion groups for women who are affected by post partum and maternal depression.

The slogan for our walks will be “Value Children?... Cherish Mothers!”  We hope many of our centers will hold walks in their communities and will be encouraging them to share stories and photos with us that we can share with you after the events.

This year on Mothers Day weekend, May 9-10, CODEPINK Women for Peace is organizing a weekend-long gathering at Lafayette Park across the street from the White House in Washington DC in the spirit of Julia’s Ward Howe's original Mother's Day Proclamation from 1870, and we’d like to invite you to join us!
